L.A. rd.3
Posted by Ben LaMay on 2012-01-23 09:45:01 MSTHey guys, Rd 3 is done and in the books, It started out the day looking like it was going to be a pretty big mud race but ended up turning out the complete opposite, Dry and hard packed. There was only 1 practice due to the rain in the morning so it was hard getting the track dailed in right away. I felt terrible on the track and just wasnt clicking, I ended up in 27th for qualifying. I knew the racing was going to be completely different from practice so I wasnt worried about anything.

In the heat race I was about last off the start and ended up 13th, which means I had to go to the LCQ. I knew the start was a must in the LCQ so i really focused. I ended up coming out pretty good out of the gate but got wheel spin a little which set me back to mid pack and ended up working up to 8th. The night was over again and need to focus on my week of training for Oakland next weekend. Talk to you guys next week,

Phoenix Rd. 2
Posted by Ben LaMay on 2012-01-16 10:11:19 MST Hey guys, Round 2 at phoenix is done and it sure was pretty exciting. I came out of practice 24th overall but only 2.5 seconds off of 1st (villopoto). Everyone this week was VERY close in laptimes coming down to thousandths of a second. Last weekend in Anaheim I was nearly 5-6 seconds off of 1st so I definatly felt better this weekend but just not quite enough! In the 1st heat race I got a midpack start having to work my way past a few guys coming up to 11th. Nick Wey and I battled for about a lap but I then made a big mistake in a rythem section and he pulled away. I was running strong the whole race with my laptmes good enough to make top 9 to transfer to the main just needed that start to put me up there! I ended up finishing 11th having to go to the LCQ knowing it was going to be another hard night!

The LCQ was stacked with guys like myself, wey, albertson, grant, tickle, thomas, peick, and knowing only 2 make it there was going to be some bar bangin. Well off the sart I locked elbows with grant and lost all my drive putting me dead last going into the first turn. I knew it was over so I just tried to knock off as many guys as i could ended up finishing 9th. Another week I didnt make the main but I deffinatly know what I gotta work on and need for RD.3 in L.A. Hope everyone enjoys reading my weekly blog. Thank you to everyone who has donated and trying to help me with my career.
Till next week, BL52
Anaheim 1
Posted by Ben LaMay on 2012-01-11 21:19:00 MST Hey guys, Anaheim 1 is done and it wasn't the best weekend that I could of asked for. It was deffinatly fun and I learned a lot about where my speed is at. The anaheim track wasn't the best ever made, thats for sure..... The track builders tried making something unique and different but it just made the track really awkward and way to tight.
To start out the day, the first practice went well and I learned the track pretty fast. For the second practice the track was getting a bit rougher by this point and I started making some changes on the bike. My suspension was a little on the stiff side for this type of track so we made some changes and it really helped. I still never felt that great on the track and ended up qualifying 28th.
Going into the heat race, I was lined up on the outside and I knew that I had to really get a good jump out of the gate and hold it on, which is exactly what I did. I ended up coming out in 4th behind Davi Millsaps. I was running 5th for 3 laps twhen Josh Hansen decided to try and take me out, I never went down but In the process he broke my front brake lever off, which in SX is really important for stopping, so I had to just ride around and ended up 12th.

In the LCQ I got a bad start and had a hard time getting around some riders. I Ended up 10th in LCQ which means I didnt make the main event. I was pretty disapointed in myself but, now I know what I need to work on this week and look forward to the race this weekend in Phoenix.
I also want to thank Andrew Hill and Kyle Motsco for donating and support me.
Until next week!

Welcome
Posted by Ben LaMay on 2012-01-01 17:20:22 MST Hey everyone,
First, I just want to say thanks for stopping by my site. I will do my best to keep this place updated with what I am doing from week to week during the season. To get started I will post an A1 update for now. So let's get started.....
Well, I didn't end up back with the Moto Concepts team as most of you have heard or can see. In fact, up until a few weeks ago I had no clue as to what I would be racing on, for, class, or even where I would be racing. Nevertheless, I have it all figured out for now.
For 2012 I will kind of be on my own program. I will be riding Yamaha 450's for least the West Coast of Supercross with the help of my great sponsors, Tom Morgan Racing, Race Tech Suspension, RipNRoll Goggles, O'Neal, Vans, Bell Helmets, L Beardsley CPA, MotoXAddicts.com and Rock River Yamaha.

I can't express how thankful I am to have the sponsors I have. Everyone is putting in everything they can for me and I couldn't ask for more from them. Hopefully, I can prove to everyone what I really have to offer and land another fill in spot during the season for a team as I have done in the years before. For now, I will have to attack all this on my own.
This is the main reason I have this website. Since I didn't land myself on a major team, I am forced to pay for most my expenses such as travel, food, gas, parts, practice fees, race fees, bike, and all that good stuff on my own. I have no problem with this however at this point in time our sport isn't the greatest in giving back to the Privateer rider so I am reaching out to my fans and the fans of our great sport to help me make my dreams come true.
On this website you can donate to me using Paypal by clicking the "Donate" tab above on the navigation. I just want to say, every little bit helps and I am so thankful for anyone who is willing to help me out even a little. I spend a small fortune every year to chase my dream in hopes of making all the hard work and determination my family and I have put in all worth it.

At this point in time I can't offer much in return, but if you ever see me at the races I would be more than willing to talk with you and tell you thanks in person, sign anything, and shake your hand. I will list and give thanks to everyone who donates every week when I make my blog post after every weekend letting you guys know how I did. I will list your name on my donation page and do my best to write a personal email back to everyone I can. I will do as much as I can to show you how thankful I am. I can't explain how much it all means to me and how great our sport is that our fans are so willing to support the Privateer riders in it.
For a quick update, we are less than a week away from Anaheim 1. I have been living/training in California for supercross all winter since the Nationals ended. I can't even tell you how ready I am for A1! This year I am also rocking a new number #52. Hope to see you guys at the races. Until next week!
